A significant number of years ago attaining a expansive variety of automobiles in Pakistan was not viable, with Toyota as the major auto producer. However, the last several years have been witness to a notable climb in the range of automobiles for possible buyers to pick from. Partly because of native factories being launched and an expansion in reconditioned imports, a more distinct range of automobiles can be seen on city streets.
Toyota is still the chief auto producer in Pakistan with important makes like the Corolla outselling all other makes. Toyota has acquired a status of quality through the countless decades of its dominant position here and as a consequence, enables individuals to gain good resale price in the reconditioned auto business. Though not respected for its appearance Corolla has lost significant market share to sportier, sophisticated looking brands like the Honda Civic.
The Honda Civic is a close hopeful for the top spot but in spite of many years in Pakistan, it still ranks second. Well-established for its appearance and convenience, the Civic has become somewhat of a status icon for the Pakistani elite. It has introduced heaps of brands in Pakistan with each one being more triumphant than the prior one. Honda vehicles also attain superb resale price in the reconditioned auto business and are ordinarily purchasable in print media and online classifieds.
Suzuki has a couple of substantially widespread makes in the hatchback and coupe kind by the name of Khyber and Mehran, respectively. These vehicles are very inexpensive and serve middle-income individuals with inadequate budgets. They are also enormously low-priced to obtain and operate, with brand new and second hand spare parts easily attainable in the market. In spite of the fact that they do not supply the same exceptional quality given by Toyota and Honda, these vehicles are highly reliable and are big cash savers.
Some other automobiles that have grown somewhat respected include a broad variety of Toyota models as well as different makes like Kia. Even though offered in a more limited range and imported from other geographical areas, these brands have become significantly more standard in the last many years.
It is apparent that Pakistan’s auto business is mainly controlled by Asian auto companies and in spite of the fact that a handful of European, American and Korean automobiles have been present for numerous years, there is a enormous lag between them and the main automobiles made by producers like Toyota and Honda. In spite of the fact that Honda speedily obtained market share a not many decades ago, the circumstances were significantly different then and for American auto producers to obtain an important portion of the industry will be a considerably tougher task.
According to UNIDO’s International Yearbook of Industrial Statistics 2008, Iran has currently the world’s 10th largest automaking industry following Japan, US, Germany, France, South Korea, Britain, Canada and Spain. Iran is placed upper than Sweden, India, Brazil, Italy and Indonesia in this ranking which has been issued few weeks ago and it is estimated that the country will become the largest car manufacturer of Asia continent within 10 years. Iran produces 10 types of its national car Samand which is being exported to 40 countries worldwide including France, Germany, Italy, Russia, China, Venezuela, Belarus, Bulgaria, Ukraine and Persian Gulf neighboring countries as well. It is estimated that Iran produces 1 million cars annually using the domestic technology with the powerful hands of national engineers. Iran has 4 major automobile manufacturing companies and they planned to gain the first place of Asian automakers in year 2015 and become one of the world 5 industrial powers. persiangulf.instablogs.com

loool
where did you get those ‘facts’?
China produces about 9 milion cars (you forgot about them).
India produces more than 2.5 times more cars than Iran.
Judging by the number of manufactured cars Iran ranks 17-18 with just about as many cars produced as the Czech republic. Italy, Turkey, Thailand, Mexico, and Russia also build more cars than Iran.
Anyway, how do you plan to overtake Japan (which produces about 12 million cars/year), China & India to become Asia’s 1st car manufacturer?

The media and the recession. The media has only been reporting recalls involving asian automakers recently. Statistically, they still safer and more reliable, but the media can easily convert the population. The recession has turned a lot of people against “foreign” companies, even though Toyota cars are now being designed and made here, and Ford is bringing European vehicles made in Mexico. Yeah, the auto world doesn’t make sense.
@AmericanIdle: That article is pure nonsense. It makes its argument based on the (incorrect) belief that Japanese automakers don’t have design jobs in the US and they only send factory work here. That in itself is false considering that most Toyota and Honda vehicles are actually engineered and designed here. For example, the Venza and Tundra were completely designed here. The Ford Fusion? It has a lot of Japanese engineered parts and is made in Mexico. The Fiesta? It was designed and engineered in Europe and is made in Mexico. I don’t know how ANYONE can claim that buying those cars would help support the American economy. It simply does NOT make sense. By buying something that is foreign designed (even if it’s for an “American” company), you’re telling them that the foreign team did better than the domestic team. Thus the foreign team will grow larger and get more funding and the domestic team will shrink.
Second, its scenario claims that jobs would be lost by American automakers. Yes, that’s true. That’s how business works. What it DOESN’T mention is that Toyota would employ more people to make up for the loss of jobs by those other automakers. It DOESN’T mention that Toyota also has design, engineering, assembly and yes even (American) headquarter jobs here.
Last, its fatal mistake was claiming that the “profits go to Japan”. Anybody who says that automatically outs themselves as a bumbling fool. Usually I only see typical ignorant commentors make that claim, not journalists (even if it is CarConnection). Toyota and Honda are listed on the NYSE, and “profits” go to anyone who has invested in the company through dividends. The same can be said for Ford and GM. Oh wait, GM doesn’t actually make money and Ford has a ton of debt left to pay off. Most profits are actually re-invested for later use, and the dividends are the only way profits get sent to anyone. Thus, anyone who says that “Profits” are sent to Japan has NO idea what they’re talking about.

I agree 100% with JankyFresci, and will add that the article you posted is just another example of media creating the truth instead of reporting it.

Because people have finally woke up! Foreign automakers have no better quality than american automakers and in most cases their quality is worse! Foreign automakers are deceptive and refuse to admit that their mistakes. American auto companies money stays here in the US and helps provide far more american jobs. For every one Foreign automaker jobs provided the american auto industry provides over 100 (that’s all big three) ……I know who im supporting.

Janky: Here’s a good read for you, and everyone really, about what an ‘American’ car actually is:
http://www.thecarconnection.com/tips-article/1010626_at-witz-end-whats-an-american-car
The least important factor is the cars final point of assembly. Even then, the American makes still support more US factory jobs than foreign ones. The most important thing is where the money stays. When you buy a Toyota, all the profits go back to Japan. When you buy a GM or Ford all the profits stay in the American economy. My Swedish built and designed Saab, which at the time I bought it was owned by GM, has put more back into the American economy than your Japanese cars ever will. one could argues that Chrysler is no longer a true American make. Sure, they still have American operations, but in ’99 they merged with Mercedes thereby sending all their profits to Germany, and right now they are owned by the Italian company Fiat.
What do I think ha turned people against the Asian makes? A combination of things.
1. The rise in quality in new cars from Ford and GM
2. Patriotism and the economy. our economy is bad, so it feels good buying an American car and supporting it
3. The decline of the Japanese makes. Toyota’s are boring, the interiors are cheap, reliability is just average, and with the recent recalls their ethics are being questioned. Honda’s are still good, but most of their recent models are just ugly. Nissan still has good cars, but they aren’t as well known. Same goes for Subaru, Mitsubishi, and Mazda.
But I think Korean cars are making big gains. Hyundai has easily passed Toyonda in quality, and they are pretty good value too. It’s just they’re a little awkward looking.
I prefer European makes simply because they make more exciting cars. They’re made to a standard, not a price. They’re more expensive to buy and own. I don’t really care. I buy cars to enjoy them. Most people just want a reliable car to get them from point A to B and back. For them I think the American makes + Hyundai are offering the best cars today.
Of course, when it comes to trucks there’s really only one way to go. I like the SUV’s from GM and as pickups go the Dodge Ram.
Obviously I want the American makes to succeed. Any American should. They’re our makes, they’re putting out some killer cars, and it’s our economy they benefit.

great article american idle.
also what people dont understand is many of the american cars made in canada are actually mostly sold in canada. and ones made in mexico are mostly sold in mexico.
in the year 2000 big three employed 390,000 american. by 2007 only 240,000. jobs were lost because japanese makers undeservingly stealing market. same time period all japanese manufactures combined only created 27,000 poor american jobs.
toyota employs about a 3rd the americans as gm, or ford(im even considering their poor temporary worker jobs that makes up 10,000 of 33,000 of their jobs). yet they sell the americans more cars. then they got their fans believing they are more american.
end this nonsense, american is the big three.
american idle has my vote best answer.

uhh American Idle….Hyundai is CRAP…the little Koreans cannot do much
the reason people buy Hayundai isbecause they’re cheap, cheap vehicle is what everyone needs in the screwed up economy by America.
look at Honda, they improve from the beginning and they still improving.
Mazda is ford and stupid
you should buy Mitsubishi, they helped bomb pearl harbor because of their engine….
Maybe Japan should have hit US harder….they should have brought China, India, Australia, Germany, Greenland, Antartica, for help!
